Sexual Abuse

I have used PhotoTherapy with women suffering from negative body image brought on by pregnancy, rape, incest, eating disorders, cancer, surgery or just plain life.

What happens:
Women are photographed from clothed to as nude as they allow. I use black and white film returned to them as contact sheets-36 images on a single sheet of photographic paper.

Women are urged to keep a personal journal, recording their reactions to the photography as well as their seeing themselves on the contacts.

Over the years I have seen this use of photography open a way for women to change how they see themselves and how they feel about their bodies.

We generally work one time, sometimes two or three. The session is completely private.

The method helps women access a different awareness of their historic beliefs while at the same time, giving them the opportunity to record their changing attitudes. We are what we believe. I've seen women change.

The photographs are confidential. The negatives are yours unless otherwise agreed.

Taking the first step:
I suggest that participants, if they are participating in traditional therapy, use The Fisher-Turk Method along with their existing therapy.
